CAFOD is the official Catholic aid agency for England and Wales. It was born when volunteer members of the National Board of Catholic Women organised the first Family Fast Day on Friday, March 11, 1960.
CAFOD works with partners across the world, wherever the need is greatest, to bring hope, compassion and solidarity to poor communities, standing side by side with them to end poverty and injustice. CAFOD works with people of all faiths and none. CAFOD works for a safe, sustainable and peaceful world.
CAFOD is well known for its swift actions after a disaster and it joins with other Agencies, the Disasters Emergency Committee, as and when appropriate.
The Parishioners of Northampton Cathedral and St Aidan’s have always generously given to CAFOD via the regular Parish Envelope collections and on the special appeal days – Harvest Day and Lent.
For the Lent Fast Day Appeal 2018 Parishioners of the Northampton Cathedral and St Aidan’s donated between them an amazing, really amazing, amount of £3,300 for which we humbly thank you. This money is used to empower brothers and sisters around the world by giving them the tools and the training to help themselves in a sustainable way.
You will find the regular CAFOD Parish envelopes in both porches and both Parishes. These can be returned during the normal Mass collections. Please also look for the World Gift Catalogues which are available for Christmas. These contain unique gifts for friends and family.
Once again we thank you for your continual generosity and your prayers.
